In this enchanting tale, Stevie (voiced by Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and her brother Elliot (voiced by Elias Janssen) venture through an absurd world of their own imagination in the hopes of making their family perfect again. If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods, and the queen of nightmares, they just might see their ultimate dream come true.

What’s In Your Dreams about?

When 12-year-old Stevie and her 8-year-old brother Elliot discover a magical picture-book that calls the Sandman to make any dream a reality, the duo embark on a life-affirming journey into the dream realm to find the mythical character. With big dreams for a perfect family, the duo make an urgent wish to make their dreams a reality. 

“One of my favorite things to do as a kid was to wake my brother up in the middle of the night and annoy him with accounts of my weird and crazy dreams, so when I had the opportunity to make my first feature film, I knew exactly what it was going to be about,” Woo, who crafted the story with Stanley Moore, told Netflix. 

“When I started this film, I set out to tell a heartfelt story that explored the magical and often hilariously absurd world of dreams,” he explained. “What I didn’t expect was how memorable and emotional the performances were going to be. I guess that’s what happens when you’re lucky enough to have Simu Liu and Craig Robinson in your cast — talk about a dream come true! But what I’m most excited for audiences to experience is Stevie and Elliot’s sibling story — the bickering, the bonding, and everything in between. It’s ultimately why we share our weird and crazy dreams.”

The cast of In Your Dreams includes: 

• Simu Liu as Dad, a fun-loving father who’s stuck in the past and can’t seem to move on from the glory days of his platinum-selling band, the Hypsonics.
• Craig Robinson as Baloney Tony, the wisecracking stuffed animal who joins Stevie and Elliot in this epic outing.

The animated comedy adventure lands on Netflix this year.

Who’s behind the music?

The score comes from composer John Debney, whose previous work includes Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2, The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Santa Clarita Diet, and more. 

The film also features “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by Eurythmics and “Enter Sandman” by Metallica (performed by Weezer in the film) on its dreamy soundtrack.
