Here are the top Adventure Travel Destinations for 2025

A new travel year is just around the corner and if active, adventure-driven getaways are on your agenda for 2025, there are several options on the rise.

Exodus Adventure Travels recently released a list of the top trending adventure destinations for the coming year based on traveler feedback and a data dive.

As a result of that effort, experts from Exodus said: “Travelers are increasingly seeking immersive cultural experiences, active adventures, and under-the-radar gems.”

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at some of the adventure-oriented destinations travelers are focused on for next year.

Italy

Europe’s diverse offerings and natural landscapes make it a perennial favorite for adventurer-oriented explorers, says Exodus. And chief among European destinations in terms of popularity is Italy. The country continues to be one of Exodus’ most popular small group tour destinations.

“Known for its vibrant culture and varied regions, Italy attracts adventurers who wish to explore everything from its famous coastlines to majestic mountain ranges,” says Exodus.

The company offers walking tours in Italy, as well as premium trekking adventures.

Portugal

Portugal’s diverse landscapes, rich history, and gastronomic excellence have made it a rising star for adventure travelers, says Exodus. Top attractions include the cultural hotspots of Lisbon and Porto, as well as the sun-drenched beaches of the Atlantic coast.

Adventurous travelers can also explore the hiking paradise on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where Exodus offers walking tours.

France

Location of the 2024 Olympics, some may consider France to have already had its moment in the spotlight. However, travelers seeking to explore beyond Paris might explore France’s Western Alps or the Loire Valley, both of which are gaining popularity for 2025, says Exodus.

Hiking tours of the Western Alps with Exodus, for instance, offer an opportunity to experience Europe’s greatest long-distance trail. If you’re looking for adventure of another kind, consider a relaxing countryside escape in the Loire Valley, exploring France’s wine region.

The Baltics

In line with the current trend of travelers taking part in ‘coolcations,’ or vacations in cooler temperature destinations, the Baltics, with their stunning landscapes, ancient villages and charming capital cities, are proving to be a popular choice for adventure travelers. Particularly those interested in exploring lesser-known regions of Northern Europe that offer cooler climates.

“While still relatively undiscovered by mainstream tourism, the region won’t stay that way for long,” says Exodus. Exodus offers walking tours through some of the hidden gems in the Baltics and Finland that allow participants to visit ancient villages, and walk along sandstone cliffs and little-known islands.

Those looking for even more adventure might consider a winter tour of the Baltics, Helsinki and Stockholm which encompasses five European capitals.

Cuba

Once largely inaccessible to U.S. travelers, Cuba has long captivated adventurers with its vibrant culture, rich history and stunning landscapes.

Exodus Adventure Travels this year reintroduced Cuba trips for U.S. citizens, offering a range of immersive, OFAC-compliant itineraries.

“Travelers can experience everything from the charm of Havana to the rolling hills of Viñales, with each trip designed to foster deep, authentic connections with the Cuban way of life,” says Exodus.
