Chrysler Adds Space And Wind Noise To The 2025 Pacifica

Chrysler just boosted the Pacifica minivan’s cargo space by a whopping 50 percent when every seat is in use. At the same time, it launched the latest new horrible vehicle branding initialism. But no, it didn’t do it by getting rid of a seat or making the minivan bigger. It did it the old-fashioned way: with a big box on the roof.

Don’t call it a minivan. This is an FAV – Family Adventure Vehicle – and we’re hoping Chrysler’s marketing team doesn’t actually expect that name to catch on. The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica Family Adventure Vehicle puts a 16-cubic-foot Thule rooftop cargo box above its iconic van. That boosts the van’s existing 140 cubic feet of cargo space (32 with all of the seats occupied) to 156.
Roof Box Helps Provide Best-In-Class Storage
The cargo-carrying figure is best-in-class, though it doesn’t beat some of its competitors by much, even with that big plastic bin up top. The Pacifica FAV is based on the new for this year entry-level Pacifica spec, called Select. It adds $3,200 to the $42,450 starting price of the Select trim. It’s also available with all-wheel drive as an option, and you can also get the package with the 32-mile electric range of the plug-in hybrid Pacifica.

The Pacifica has just received a fresh batch of updates for 2025. How will it fare against one of its few remaining competitors?
For $3,200, you do get more than a $750 roof-mount cargo box and a $529 set of roof rails. The FAV package gives you cool-parent details like black trim in the S Appearance package. It has 18-inch wheels instead of 17s and is only sold in black, red, and white.
New Grade Adds Premium Audio, Navigation, And More
The Family Adventure Vehicle also adds navigation to the 10.1-inch touchscreen along with 19 speakers of Harman Kardon audio and gets all-weather floor mats and a rear cargo mat, so it’s protected from those family adventures. And that’s the point of this roof box – it’s not sexy or something to boast about, but it fulfills the needs of a large family, and that’s all the Pacifica has ever had to do.

Which would you take: this or a Honda Odyssey? They’re very closely matched.
Add in those extras (most aren’t offered on the Select at all), and it’s not a bad deal. Just don’t ask how much the roof box cuts into range and fuel economy because while Chrysler doesn’t say, we’ll bet it’s significant. Expect this family van at dealers in the first quarter of 2025. While we wait, we’d love to hear your alternative suggestions for a name – Pacifica FAV doesn’t exactly have a catchy ring to it.
